The first-ever Cliburn YouTube Contest was launched in March 2008 as part of a search for pianists to compete in the next International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, to be held in 2011. For the contest, amateur pianists over the age of 35 uploaded performance videos to the Cliburn YouTube Contest group channel. The winner, announced on May 30, will be invited to compete in the 2011 Amateur Competition in Fort Worth.
